This release separates two things that had been tangled together: putting something on your website, and emailing it to people.

Publishing No Longer Sends Email

This is a change in behavior, and it is deliberate. Previously, publishing certain content could email your subscribers automatically. It never does now.

Sending is its own action. You compose a send, choose who receives it, see how many people that is before you commit, and dispatch it on purpose. If you publish something that would once have gone out by email, the editor tells you it will not reach anyone - so the decision is yours to make rather than one made for you.

Contacts and Segments

Your subscribers are now first-class contacts, and you can group them.

• Segments - define groups by interest, source, or activity, and target a send to one of them
• Bulk import - bring in an existing list, with consent recorded for each contact
• Mailable at a glance - the contacts list shows segment, verification, and whether each person can actually be emailed
• One-click unsubscribe - recipients can unsubscribe from their mail client without logging in anywhere
• An unsubscribe means everywhere - opting out of one channel now stops mail from all of them
• A real Reply-To - replies go where you want them, not to a no-reply address

Every send is now recorded against the content it mailed, with its own delivery statistics.

Spanish-Language Sites

Your site can now run in Spanish, not just have Spanish pages bolted on.

• A language selector in your navigation
• The whole page translated - navigation, footer, buttons and labels, not only the body text
• Election content translated too, including office names, deadline headings, and dates rendered with Spanish month and weekday names
• Written in the formal usted register throughout
• Your subscriber emails, signup replies, and confirmation pages localized to match the page a person signed up from

Accessibility

Every theme now meets WCAG AA contrast, and we check it automatically on every build rather than trusting that it stayed true. That covers the awkward cases too - text over photographs, footer variants, colored chips.

Renaming a Page Without Breaking It

You can now change a published page's URL. Kwill updates every reference to it, including translated versions, records the old address, and generates a redirect so existing links, bookmarks, and search results keep working. It also tells you how much it changed.

Two New Themes

ink is a dark theme available across every template. chamber is an edge-to-edge layout built for officeholders rather than candidates, with a matching masthead and a district prompt block for civic sites.

• Branded email - your outbound mail and your subscriber-facing signup and confirmation pages now carry your brand, with a compliant postal footer
• A media API for uploading and managing files programmatically
• Recurring events - editing a pattern now confirms what it will affect, and changes propagate correctly to existing occurrences
• The theme picker shows every theme, not a stale hardcoded list
• Scribe accepts iPhone photos and reports clearly when an attachment cannot be processed instead of continuing in silence
• A redesigned personal site template, and navigation that rests over your hero and frosts as you scroll

Behind the Scenes

Alongside the product work, we have put real effort into the parts of the platform you should never have to think about - monitoring, security, and the infrastructure your sites run on. It is work we keep investing in rather than work that ever finishes, and most of it is invisible by design. That is rather the point.
